And.... Disney owns Gen Con?
I was in FL in February and masking was in place still for buses/monorails/planes. We kept our masks on when indoors. UNTIL the last couple days when we went to a movie and we’re lax. Guess who had COVID symptoms right after returning from FL? I wouldn’t hold up the lax rules of the states as an example of what is safe and best for prevention.
Wasn't the point initially to make sure hospitals are not over taxed? Why has that changed? If hospitalizations aren't going up, the number of cases really don't matter. Humans get sick sometimes and always will.

Let’s hope the requirements stay in place, people maintain them and stay healthy, and that those who do contract symptoms are prepared to stay in their hotel room/delay return flight until their symptoms have abated.
Everyone's personal story is going to be different.
I went to Planet Comicon in Kansas City last year in August with a mask mandate but caught Covid then. I went back to Planet Comicon in March with no mask mandate and did not catch covid. For the record I was vaccinated for both trips. Obviously being vaccinated and wearing a mask didn't prevent covid.
There is no correct answer that will apply to every case equally.
If SD Comic-con (twice the size of GC) is accepting a negative test as an option, seems Gencon might want to consider that option. Since both can contract and carry, just knowing you don't have it 72 ahead is marginally safter than pretending you are immune. Actually, someone who had it in the last six months is the saftest not to get again or spread.
Also take note that reinfection is more common with omicron, they are finding the natural immunity waning in 2-3 months, much faster under these newer variants, so having your vaccines and exercising basic precaution like masking are good practices.

Also C2E2 another much larger convention in Chicago that is the same weekend as Gencon, is also allowing a testing option, and are not requiring mask, with the exception of certain event areas.
Is masking a "basic" precaution when a group of vaccinated people get together?

And that's where we go around and around. Everyone's 'safe' is going to be different than the next person.

Let's not.....
In the beginning when ppl were dying in numbers and hosp are going up I was for mask mandatory, but we got vax and treatments now, the hosp rate is low, death are at a all time low which will be prob the lowest it will be for years if there is a time to be a lil more lax it's now. I don't plan on wearing a mask the rest of my life I am up to date with my vax shots and ready to try to get back to as much normal as I can, I mean I am not getting any younger lol.
I want the abilty to decide for myself when a mask is needed, if I want to sit in an open space and rest I like the abilty to be maskless I don't want other people to tell me I can't take my mask off in an open area with almost no one around

but exactly right when is enough going to be enough? if everyone is vaxed that is pretty decent protection, yes some will get sick but will it be more common then ppl getting sick with anything else.

How many lives would be saved by a BMI mandate?
Amazing how the talking points have shifted since Origins changed their policy.
Origins just reinstated mandatory masking for 2022.

The city council voted unanimously to end it back in March, with the mayor quickly signing off on it. Even if they do want to bring it back, I'm not sure they could work fast enough to do it in time for Origins.
I live in Central Ohio and while Columbus (and Franklin County) had a mask mandate until March, most of the surrounding communities nixed theirs months before that and never reinstated them. Additionally the Ohio Department of Health released an update today, that yes cases are rising, but hospitalizations are only 8.67% of what they were during the peak of the pandemic and over the past three weeks deaths have reduced by 16%. Franklin County is currently in the "green" level for community transmission and Dr. Vanderhoff is quoted as saying, "This is good news as we head into warmer weather..."
I cannot see any chance of Columbus or Franklin County reinstating a mask mandate. Even when the Columbus mandate was in effect, it was ignored by a significant percentage of the population and there did not seem to be any pushback against people not wearing masks. In Central Ohio I think there is little to no public buy-in for a mandate and little political will to try imposing one again.

Which points have changed? I think I've been consistent in my view that people should determine their own risk tolerance when it comes to masks.

The vendors dont care what columbus city council thinks. The city council didnt spend thousands of dollars to go there and isnt stuck in the dealer hall.

I apologize, but I think you mistook what I posted. There was a question if Columbus/Franklin County would be instituting a mask mandate and I answered, with the best information I have, that I do not believe that is remotely possible.
There is no question that Gen Con can set its own rules. Discussing that is a red herring. It's about what they should do, not what they can do. Turn about what you say and those who don't want any risk of exposure to Covid can stay home and they won't be exposed.
Would I voluntarily walk maskless into a crowd of 50,000 people knowing that 25 of them are infected with a disease I've already had and been vaccinated against three times in the past 14 months? Yes. Yes I would. That's why I got vaccinated - so I wouldn't have to live in fear. Anyway, probably won't post again today, because I'm headed to a concert with thousands of other people, even though there's no mask mandate.
I have COVID now. Only single vax back in mid-2021, no masks basically for this entire time since late 2020 (Gencon 21' was the only time in the last 1 1/2 years other than hospital visits). Was basically just my turn to get it. Did I get it from the local arcade I went to, the restaurant, any store I went to or the playground I take my son to? No idea.. doesn't matter to me.
